In order to keep security procedures efficient for a busy campus, Blackboard has recently announced the 3.6 version of its integrated technology platform, Transact, providing contactless scanning of plastic ID cards.

The transit system of British Columbia’s Lower Mainland area is getting a contactless technology boost. Current forms of tickets and passes will be replaced with smart cards by the year 2013. The smart cards will be pre-loaded and scanned in front of an electronic card reader for payment.
Contactless payment technology is gaining popularity. Now, BMO and Research in Motion have teamed up for a Canadian trail that will test self-adhesive contactless payment devices on cell phones. The contactless technology will work just like MasterCard’s “PayPass”.
