Gymnasiums in India are becoming more upscale and using smartcards to enhance workouts.
Gymnasiums in India are not just places for people to exercise, but also places equipped with impressive software, smartcards, receptionists and amenities to enhance the workout experience, according to a recent report by IndianExpress.com.
The plastic cards allow professional trainers to access and modify everyday workout regimen more easily.
According to Crispen Lamont of Mont Fitness, Indians want to change their workout experiences through high-end facilities and professional training.
“More and more fitness professionals are now entering the industry to build gyms and run them not as corporate machines but places that can act as second homes for people,” Tushar Ramanan told IndianExpress.com. “At my studio, a limited number of people come in to workout and so there is more attention paid to details of their [regimen].”
India is a country expected to increase its use of smartcards. Commuters in Kolkata, for example, will be able to ride in air-conditioned rail-cars this summer and use plastic cards at new ticket gates beginning May 15, according to the Times of India. Officials hope the smartcard system will deter people from using improper tickets.
